Who in their right mind would spend a sunny afternoon hunting six tiny stone guardians across Yamashiro? The answer, obviously, is any Assassin's Creed Shadows player who wants extra experience early and doesn't mind getting intimately acquainted with Kyoto's traffic laws. Yamashiro is still a fairly early part of the game, and having some extra experience early on is a useful thing to have. It is also about when the player will be able to play as Yasuke, which adds another dynamic to how they collect them. In 2026, the hunt remains a rite of passage for completionists who enjoy scenic rides, questionable map reading, and the quiet judgment of Jizo statues.

There are six total Jizo Statues in Yamashiro. The trickiest part is not the statues themselves, but navigating the map. The terrain is a little more difficult to navigate, and Kyoto takes up a large section of Yamashiro. Worse, Kyoto forces the player to slow down because they cannot gallop through it. Why does every beautiful virtual city insist on being a no-horse zone? If many Synchronization Points are already unlocked, life gets much easier. If not, Naoe is the better choice for collecting Jizo Statues because she can move on foot faster through Kyoto, and there are plenty of Synchronization Points that Yasuke cannot climb as easily.

Yamashiro Jizo Statue Locations at a Glance 🗿

# Jizo Statue Best Approach Notes
1 Shoryuji Shoryuji Tenshu Synchronization Point or Oyamazaki Kakurega Closest to Kyoto; the main quest practically drops the player on it.
2 Arashiyama Arashiyama Cascades Synchronization Point Far west; good starting point for a northern chain.
3 Genbu Highlands #1 Road from Arashiyama Southern Genbu; a direct road makes this a relief.
4 Genbu Highlands #2 Shokokuji Pagoda or Northern Kyoto Kakurega Furthest north in Yamashiro.
5 Hills of Meeting Kiyomizudera Pagoda or Pagoda of the Hills Eastern side; monkey Hideout bonus nearby.
6 Little Leaf Glade Uji Tawara river route Hidden between regions; look for the woods path.

Shoryuji Jizo Statue 🗿

This is the easiest one to come across. It is closest to Kyoto, and the player will basically run into it when they are first sent to Yamashiro for the main quest. If they missed it, the Shoryuji Tenshu Synchronization Point or the Oyamazaki Kakurega will get them there. The more southern Synchronization Point in Kyoto also works. It is a gentle introduction to the Jizo hunt, which is a polite way of saying the game is warming up before it throws a mountain at them.

Arashiyama Jizo Statue 🗿

While it is technically Eagle's Point, this one is close to Arashiyama. There is a Synchronization Point to the north at Arashiyama Cascades, but no matter what, this one asks for quite a distance. It is the one farthest to the west. Since there are another two Jizo Statues to the north, a smart route is to swing from the last statue to the west, travel north, and hit all three in a row. Why make three trips when one long, scenic, slightly sweaty ride will do?

Genbu Highlands Jizo Statue #1 🗿

This is the more southern Jizo Statue in the Genbu Highlands, and it is very easy to reach from the last Jizo Statue near Arashiyama. There is a road that goes nearly directly between them, which makes life a little easier. The relief of not having to go through Kyoto again is real. Instead, the player gets a nice ride through the realistic countryside of Assassin's Creed Shadows. It is almost peaceful, until a wild animal or a random ronin remembers this is an Assassin's Creed game.

Genbu Highlands Jizo Statue #2 🗿

This one is the Jizo Statue furthest north in Yamashiro. The player should be able to get to it fairly quickly from the north of Kyoto, either from the Shokokuji Pagoda or the Northern Kyoto Kakurega. They could also come to it from the very north, as there is a fast-travel point at Kuramadera Pagoda, but it is easier to get there from the south. In other words, resist the urge to be clever. The southern approach is the one that keeps the controller from being thrown.

Hills of Meeting Jizo Statue 🗿

The Hills of Meeting Jizo Statue is on the eastern side of Yamashiro. The natural approach is from the south where the Kiyomizudera Pagoda is. That pagoda is also near where the player can get a monkey for their Hideout, so it is worth stopping by. There is a Pagoda of the Hills Synchronization Point, but the statue is likely to be passed on the way to that landmark. What is better than collecting a Jizo Statue? Collecting a Jizo Statue and a monkey in the same trip, apparently. 🐒

Little Leaf Glade Jizo Statue 🗿

The final Jizo Statue in Yamashiro is actually off in a little section that does not look like it is part of the region at first. Little Leaf Glade is between Yamato, Izumi Settsu, and Omi, yet it is considered part of Yamashiro. The recommended route is to travel along the river through Uji Tawara, which does have a Kakurega. On the other side of the town, the player should look to their right for a path into the woods and follow it around to the last Jizo Statue in Yamashiro. It is a fittingly sneaky finish for a collectible that has spent the whole region pretending to be simple.

Final Thoughts 🗿

Collecting all six Yamashiro Jizo Statues is not just about completionism. It is about early experience, smoother exploration, and unlocking more of the map while the player is already in the area. The statues are not hard to find once the right Synchronization Points are unlocked, but the journey can be a comedy of Kyoto's slow zones, Yasuke's climbing limitations, and Naoe's superior cardio. So why not grab them while the main quest is still pointing at Yamashiro? The Jizo statues are waiting, silent, judgmental, and probably laughing at anyone who tries to gallop through Kyoto. 🐎
